BOO!!

This Halloween I’m dressing as a spooky, Victorian-era ghost… complete with bustle dress, boots, and curled (but messy) hair. And today I figured was a fantastic day for a makeup dress rehearsal!

And now… the quick n’ spooky tutorial~
For the Face and Eyes…

Apply a primer! Always use a primer when applying costume makeup – it’ll help seal your skin; make the look last longer; and assist in preventing breakouts.
Apply pale concealer or heavy makeup across your entire face and neck. Make sure everything is one color.
Cover your face and neck with white eyeshadow. I used a white by L’Oreal HiP. I applied only one coat for this (but I’ll use two or three coats for Halloween night), applied with my Beauty Blender sponge.
Line eyes with black eyeliner – I used a black gel eyeliner from Purely Cosmetics. Be sure to also line your waterline and your upper and lower lash line!
Next, grab some highly pigmented black eyeshadow. I used one by Milani. Sweep it heavily across your entire upper lid, and really smoosh it into your upper lid crease. Blend outward to your temple.
Using that same black shadow, sweep it under your lower lashline – don’t be too neat here. Messy is excellent!
Add some more of that black shadow to the inner corners of your eyes, next to the bridge of your nose to create depth and shadows. Also bring the shadow under your eye, but above your cheek, to create the looks of under-eye “bags”.
Now comes the fun part!
Using your black gel eyeliner, draw driplines down from your lower lashline. Sweep some black eyeshadow between the lines and along the edges to soften and create some shadows.
Dab a red lipstick or red lipstain at the inner corners of your eyes (right by your tear ducts).
Optional ~ After the gel liner dries, use a clear lipgloss to lightly trace over the drips. This makes an awesome gooey texture!!

For the Cheeks ~

Shade the hallows of your cheeks with the black eyeshadow.

For the Lips ~

Apply a red lipstain (I used one of the CoverGirl marker-style lip stains) to the inner portion of your lips (i.e. the parts of your lips closest to your teeth). Let it dry.
Pucker your lips and apply concealer or super-pale lipstick to the outer portions. Un-pucker your lips.
Use the black gel liner or black eyeshadow to trace and fill in those lines left by the puckering.
Add the drips below your lips as described in the Eyes section above. Try to carry some down and underneath your chin for the full effect!
Dab the red lipstain in the outer corners of your lips for depth.

For Halloween night, I’ll be adding some more white underneath everything – gotta have uber-pale skin, right? And I also plan to carry the white makeup and shading down my neck, chest, and all the exposed areas on my arms and hands.

Vampire-inspired Halloween Mani

Yet another Halloween themed nail polish creation by yours truly…

I created this manicure using all Gelish SOG (Soak Off Gel) polishes, but you could create the same look with regular polishes from your own stash.

I used Electric Metal Lover – a magnetic red – for the main color. Two coats and the final coat I “activated” the magnetic properties using one of my China Glaze nail magnets. The drips were freehand painted using Black Shadow – a black creme.
